Mid-Ulster Tour
One of the highlights of this tour includes a visit to the famous Belleek Pottery (www.belleek.ie) to see how Parian China is made. Take a look in on the "Janus Figure" on Boa Island and explore some of the island town of Enniskillen's attractions. See the monastic site of Devenish Island and its famous Round Tower with ruins or go potholing (down stairs) in the Marble Arch Caves. A visit an Irish Lace Museum provides an opportunity for afternoon tea. Amble through Florence Court House and see the mother tree of all Irish Yew Trees.At the Ulster American Folk Park experience two continents and find out how the old country influenced the new one. View the Creggan centre and the Beagmore stone circles, ceremonial places of ritual reaching thousands of years back in time. Stop in Armagh to see the two Cathedrals dedicated to St. Patrick before going to Navan Fort outside the city of Armagh, a place of religious worship in the Bronze Age.
We travel through Maguire's country and hear of some of the exploits of the Medieval Lords as we encounter the story of Emain Macha and how Armagh got its name. Others we could encounter on this tour are John Dunlop, President Ulysses S. Grant, possibly General Stonewall Jackson or General James Shields from Cappagh, the only person to beat Stonewall Jackson on the field of battle at Kernstown Virginia.
