Christianity in Ireland give rise to monasteries, churches and round towers as well as a legacy of three patron saints namely St. Patrick, St. Bridget and St. Colmcille.

Tradition records that Patrick while preaching in South West Donegal foretold the coming of a holy man of great power who materialised 100 years later in the form of St. Colmcille, who was born nearby at Gartan.

The Annals of the Four Masters, compiled at Franciscan Friaries in Donegal between 1632 and 1636 provides a most important account of early religious life in Ireland a considerable amount of which relates to this area of North West Ireland. Here you can step back in time and embrace the aura of our mysticism.
